Mortgage Turn Around Times

Quite a few threads on here re specifc lenders, but not selected who to go with yet.

Just had an offer accepted (no chain either side), mortgage advisor suggested allow 8 weeks for an entry date, sellers are looking for 6 weeks.We have a decent deposit and good credit history.

In general which companies seem to be taking a long time at the moment to process, does 6 weeks seem like it might be tight? Obviously we will be looking at rates / fees etc but don't want to find out we have gone with someone that is going to take ages to process...

During the buying process many issues can crop up. Obtaining the mortgage is merely the first step. So don't get "bullied" into a date at the outset as no one can give a definative time line. Let events take their natural course. The process is stressful enough as it is. So don't add additional pressures.

I should say I am buying in Scotland, I think it is fairly usual to agree an entry date as part of the offer, but yes I realise there may be other issues....will discuss with solicitor again how this works. Thanks.
