Corporation Tax Correction Notice

in Cutting tax
Hi, hope you can help - not sure if i've posted this in the right place.
Our Corporation tax is due 1 April 2007 (Sunday) and I set the payment up early and it arrived today with the Inland Revenue.
When I arrived home today I have received a 'Corporation Tax Correction Notice' stating that the amount we owe is actually £457 more than I have paid and that we cannot appeal against the notice. The due date is still the same 1st April and obviously there is no way I can get the payment to the IR by then now. The notice is actually dated 23/3 but I only received it today.
I am going to ring them first thing in the moring to see what this is about, but just wondered if anyone else had experienced this? I don't want to get charged a late payment fee, and neither do I want to have to pay £25 for a CHAPS Payment as I don't really see that this is our fault and we have already paid the amount originally asked for.
Any replies greatfully received, or I probably won't sleep tonight worrying!

Assuming their calculation is right, and your payment is a few days late, all you'll be charged is a bit of interest, which will be minimal and certainly less than £25 chaps fee. There is little scope for arguing that they didn't tell you in time - it is "self assessment" after all, so presumably either their calculation is wrong, or your calculation was wrong.0
