Wife paying off credit cards

My wife and I are on a combined inccome of £90k. She is on a spouse visa and although earning £40k cannot apply for a mortgage either joint or single.
I have clean credit and have passed credit scoring for a £150k mortgage. We have 20% deposit. Next stages to fill in the paperwork.
I have credit cards with a balance of £8k which I declared will be paid off. Can my wife submit a letter of declaration stating that she will cover the payments and is there a likelihood that it will be accepted by the mortgage company?
My wife has no debt and takes home around £2400 a month which we put directly into savings.
I am asking because I loaned some money to a friend and it seems there will be a delay paying it back.

If this was the case then she's be accepted on the mortgage application. As for all intents and purposes would have same effect.
Be a good idea to repay your credit card debt.0
