Claiming back council tax from an old property?

Is it possible for me to claim back council tax from a property i moved away from 8 months ago? I am convinced i was in a much higher tax bracket than i should have been.

No Olliert you can't claim for council tax rebanding if you have left the property.

However if the present occupiers make a successful claim for rebanding and get a rebate you can ask for a rebate from VOA for the time you were at the property.

Check on the https://www.voa.gov.uk site and see what band the house is in and if the occupiers have made a claim. Might be worth your while to let them know if you think the banding was too high.

Look at the 'Council Tax discussion' thread. There's lots of expert advice on there.

no you cannot ask the VOA for the rebate .. you ask the council - the VOA do not collect council tax
