when we first got a mortgage we we were told we had to take out an insurance to cover it.....can i claim this back?????/ ta

based on that reason no, as its a weak allegation with no proof.0 -

you will have a better chance if there was a reason why the PPI was unsuitable for you. at the end of the day, there is nothing wrong with a monthly ppi policy to protect mortgage payments.0 -
Who told you that you had to have it?
If it is correct then there is no wrong doing. For example, Lenders in the 90s used to require it. Newcastle b/society come up often as one that required it to buy the mortgage deal. Brokers that dont charge fees often require you to buy insurance from them to allow them to give you free mortgage advice. All of those are allowed.
Given that MPPI has the lowest success rate of any type of PPI, you will need some reasons and a verbal allegation wont go far unless there is another failing.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
