    IMO that is over familiar.
    I'd call a potential future colleague/boss by their surname before I was formally introduced to them at interview by their first name.

    Agree. It's good manners to call someone 'Miss/Mr X' when you have never met them. Only when someone says 'call me xxx' then I would. Before that it's a bit presumptuous and people can be very funny about it.

    If the ad says to address CVs to Bob Jones (or whoever) then address it to "Dear Bob Jones". If they would rather you put Mr Jones they would have put that.

    Otherwise I put "Dear Sirs".

    Unless they were distinguishing from Bob Jones and Jim Jones ...

    But yes, always best to follow that is written.

    I hope you're more careful when writing your covering letter than you are writing on these forums DCFC79.
    If they're anything like me then their reaction to your mistakes could be to throw your application in the bin.
  • IMO that is over familiar.
    It possibly is but then I switch jobs/ clients every 12-24 months and not had a gap in employment for the last 18 years so it isnt so hated by prospective employers
