Are you sure? A registered keeper is not necessarily the legal owner. My car was bought by me, but my wife is the registered keeper. I see the car as being mines legally as I can prove I paid for it.

Thanks for your help everyone but he has contacted me and offered £100 a week direct to account and to change log book back to my name till payments have been made, so hopefully all will be good in the end

Be careful there as most insurance companies insist on the policy holder being the registerd keeper.

Got stuffed by that little claus with my daughter's car ie car in my name insurance in her name end result she had bump insurance refused to pay out on my car and the 3rd party's car left me with the bill

I'd second that about being careful with the insurance, you normally declare that you are the owner when you complete a proposal for insurance and the insured normally has to be the keeper to comply with the new continuous insurance law, otherwise you as the keeper risk a penalty every time the car is copped by an ANPR camera.

Unless it's husband and wife when it's normally ok.

I just select the box, third party owns the car never had an issue
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

    IMHO, not a good idea.

You are now in the position of being legally responsible, for insuring, MOT-ing and taxing/SORN-ing a vehicle, that is not in your possession.

The OP has been having problems for a good while, but it was all sorted within 2 hours of posting on MSE.

I think it was DCFC79's posts what done it!!!
