Back Pay Issue

Hi all

My partner completed an exam in work back in December, once this exam was completed his hourly rate was supposed to increase to the same as everyone else. He wasn't allowed to run the machinery on his own until this exam was completed, but since the exam he has worked on his own on a regular basis.

He's been asking his manager every week and he keeps getting the same reply i'll do it this week, it'll be paid next month etc etc.

Now the company have proposed a 10% pay cut which they are looking to implement from October!! So he will be loosing out again.

Just wondering where we stand and what we can do really. I need to check the terms and conditions of his contract but i'm pretty sure it was stated that his wage would increase once the exam was passed.

Thanks in advance

How long has he worked there? And what does his contract say?

Regardless of the above, he can raise a grievance. However, if he's been there less than a year (if he started before April 2012) or 2 years (if he started after that) then he has very few employment rights.

Must have been before 6 April because he did the exam in December.
