  • I voluntarily repaid £6000 to my student loan straight after graduating. I did it because I made a spreadsheet and the interest that was going to be added to the total debt whilst pursuing a PhD made me wince.

    Company formed around 1949 by Trevor Wilkinson. TVR comes from TVR in the name 'Trevor'.

    Had he been called Batholemew, it would almost certainly have been called BMW

    I drive a Trevor, really does not sound as cool.

    Which adds up.

    Worst ever was OH went out and 'bought' a Freelander on HP in 2002 without even consulting me.:(
    This Freelander was going to be his 'forever' car he said (like, how can a car be a forever car?).

    I think it cost 22k then add interest of HP on top. The 1st engine blew up within the warranty period so was replaced for free ....but then it used to break down every 4 months with some problem or another. Each breakdown would cost about £600+ in repair bills.

    In the end she had 4 new engines ;
    No 1 was free
    no2 was £1200
    no 3 was free (as no 2 blew up after a month)
    no 4 was £1700
    and then she had new of practically everything else.
    Each time she broke down and we paid out a repair we said' she's got to go' but then left it.

    Also, juicy wasn't the word, I have never known a car to use so much fuel.

    In the end he got shot of her this year as she just died in the middle of the road one day (electrical fault apparently).

    We have made lots of mistakes business-wise but each experience has been like a lesson so I don't count those.:) and we have made good calls too so I don't beat myself up on those.

    2nd worst was not buying shares in a company we were dealing with as I knew they were building them up. Irony was we didn't have the spare £££ to buy any as we needed every penny for cashflow to be able to supply the orders.
