Halifax Mortgage said we have to take out Building and Contents Insurance -

Hi

This is my first ever post... so here goes!

We took out a mortgage with the Halifax in 2005 and were told that we had to take out their Buildings and Contents policy, is this right?

Should we have been given the option to shop around?

Any help or advise would be welcome...

Buildings insurance is mandatory but you can choose your provider.

Only if you asked if you could do that.

Yes, but you wont get your money back as you have had the benefit of insuring your property, which is mandatory. Its a pointless complaint and not at all related or treated the same as PPI complaints.
