Am I entitled to PPI on my mortgage

Going through some paperwork in my attic, I found a mortgage protection policy (taken out in2008) for my current home. Because it was in my name I thought I wont be able to claim as I was (and still am) the only one working.
Then in pen I noticed my wife's name and a plan number written beside it; I phoned up Halifax and found out I was still paying my wife's plan and have been since 2002.
I dont know why this plan was started up, especially in my wife's name as she has never worked and there would be no need.
So do I have a legit claim on my wife's planm Or am I wasting my time?
Thanks for your time.

So do I have a legit claim on my wife's planm Or am I wasting my time?
Do you mean claim or complaint?
Assuming your mean complaint, then what actually is your complaint. So far, you have told us that you have been paying a mortgage protection policy relating to your wife but you havent said what you think is wrong that. You hinted that you think it wouldn't pay out because yor wife has never worked but you havent said what the mortgage protection policy is. If it is say life assurance, then it wouldnt matter. Nor would critical illness or income protection. If it was payment protection then it could depending on the type of payment protection).
Also, I am confused on the dates. You say it was taken out in 2008 but you have been paying it since 2002. That isnt possible.
Can you clarify:
1 - what type of insurance it is (mortgage protection could be many things)
2 - when was it taken out
3 - who does it cover? (dont assume - look at policy as I have seen plans recorded as joint that are set up 100% in first name, 0% in second name but still show the second name).
4 - who sold it to you? (bank, broker, adviser etc)
5 - what you think has been done wrong?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. i dont understand this one either. Also halifax's mortgage ppi is monthly paid, so no idea how you woudnt notice paying something for the past ten years. it makes no sense.0

Sorry for not being clearer, what i'm trying to say is that I wasn't aware I was paying the mortgage protection policy in 2002 on my wife's name. My wife was not working at this time so I don't know why we would take this out;the only reason we would take this out would be to cover me in case I lost my job. The plan for 2008 is in my name and covers me for critical illness, loss of job etc which I expect to pay.
I've phoned halifax and asked them to send me details of the TMP Plan for 2002
Once I have the details of the plan then I can answer your other questions (1-3).
4 - I think it was sold by the Halifax (spoke to Halifax mortgage adviser).
5 - What I think has been done wrong is why have I been paying for a TMP plan from 2002 in my wife's name. I understand it may be set up in my name but is showing her name, so I will wait and see. If that is the case then why am still paying for both the 2002 and 2008 plans, which may be both in my name.
The reason why I didn't notice I was paying this for the last 10yrs is because I thought it was all part of the the mortgage . I don't remember receiving any paperwork (like I had for the 2008 TMP Plan) for this plan
Just a question would it cost more a month if it's in her name and not mine, the reason why I say this is because the plan from 2002 (wife's name) is £22 a month, while the one in 2008 (my name) is £7.500 -
The Halifax TMP plan is a segmented plan that can hold life assurance, CI, MPPI and PHI I believe (certainly the first three). So, knowing the plan details are going to be key and it would also explain why your spouse could be included on it.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
