Cherished plate transfer HELP!!!

Hiya all

Quick question.

I am about to buy a second hand car and would like to transfer my cherished plate from my current car to the new car.

May sound silly but how do I get a number plate for my old car and how do I go about doing this? :cool:

I know that I can transfer it form one vehicle to another, i was enquiring about the car that im transferring from....does that then get its original number plate back and how is this done??

What happens next

The DVLA local office may need to inspect both vehicles and will contact you to arrange an appointment. If they don’t need to inspect, they’ll approve your application within two weeks.
On approving your application, the DVLA local office will send you:

• a confirmation letter to advise the replacement registration number
