Mortgage with satisfied CCJ

Options
Hi,

Back in 2009 my partner's ex girlfriend overspent on the joint account they had and this resulted in my partner getting a CCJ. It was for just under £1,000 and was satisfied in May 2010. The reason that the this debt was left unpaid was mainly due to my partner being too stubborn and not wanting to bail out his ex partner once again. He has now severed all ties after she almost put him in the same situation again - thankfully this time he saw the CCJ pending on Experian so was able to clear it in time for it to be removed from his credit report. So he has learnt from past mistakes! And he now has better taste in girlfriends... ;)

We would like to buy a house together soon and we are wondering how this is going to affect our chances of getting a mortgage. He currently owns a house with no mortgage and would ideally like to keep this and obtain a mortgage to release funds for a deposit on the house we buy together. With this CCJ is he going to struggle to get a mortgage? Repayments would be more than covered by rent earned.

Also, how will it affect the mortgage we apply for together? I have an excellent credit rating and earn over £100k per year so would have no problem getting a mortgage myself. The level of deposit should be high as we both have savings plus the equity that would be released from my partner's other property (if it can be released!)

Any help appreciated!

May be possible depending on the figures.

Have a chat with a broker. Don't apply at random as this may harm credit scoring
