BuzzSoc

anyone joined this or heard any feedback about it?
its https://www.buzzsoc.com/
they say you can have up to 5 full size free items per month and you buzz about it (a bit similar to bzzagent or savvy circle) and also have to fill in surveys
it sounds quite good, only reason I am hesitating is that when you go to pick the products it asks for the card details, incase you don't complete your surveys on time then they will charge you 5.95 - so just not sure??

they seem to be quite new, only 60 facebook likes on their page so far..

so just wondered if anyone on here has done it and how you are finding it, what is the volume of surveys you are required to fill in etc??

Oh.just looked at website. And words "try me free" put me off.
    Look what I found!
We currently have a Free Promotion allowing our members to Try us Free. This is a limited time offer.
After any promotional period expires, subscriptions (excl. P+P) to BuzzSoc are as follows:
    Monthly Subscription: £7
    Quarterly Subscription: £18
    Half Yearly Subscription: £35
    Yearly Subscription: £60

P+P currently at £5.95 per box.

    Too pricey for me!

    hmm interesting

i wonder what the procedure is for cancelling it after the trial period, i dont want to pay subscription but if it will be fairly easy to cancel after the free time i might give it a go

dealme i had a fair amount of stuff from bzzagent! so guess it just depends. but always feel a bit more unsure when you have to put the card details in

Have given it a try, so will report back when I receive my order. It looks like it's all completely free-you will only get charged if you don't complete the surveys within 30 days (As the previous poster stated.)

Well, I'm giving it a wide berth for now.

The site doesn't tell you that you need to give payment details until the very last page of check-out (where it warns that they may take the P&P of £5.95 if you're slow to feedback), and nowhere is there anything to say you won't be auto-signed up to ongoing payments. You have given them your card details, and they haven't said what they'll do with that information.

Plus the only positives we have about it are reported here from a new user (DealMe), who's only ever posted on this thread. And they post rather gushing reviews of it.

Might be genuine of course, but it doesn't feel right (for instance - DealMe got their box '5 weeks ago', but I've seen no evidence the site was up and the promo running back then - it's not been mentioned on MSE before, and it's not on HDUK at all, which is odd for such a 'good deal').

So I'm just a weeny bit cautious on this one. Could be good, but could be a scam. Needs more info upfront on who it is, and what the subscription situation is.

The Whois record for the domain name seems to be hidden too.
[Edit - have accessed that record now, site was registered in Oct 2011, but was last updated on 2nd August this year, which sounds as if that's when it went live - though that's a lot less than DealMe's '5 weeks ago'... Registered to an address in Normanton, Derbyshire]

[Another edit - the Blog for the site dates back to mid June, which sounds a lot better, though it is very easy (I know, I've done it) to backdate entries in a blog to make it look older than it is, so whilst I'm a bit reassured, I'm still not convinced!]

I see that DealMe's posts have now been removed - so my references to them might look a little odd. For info there were three overly chatty posts all extolling the virtues of Buzzsoc in a rather over the top way.

I remain suspicious of the BuzzSoc site, and would worry that once you've given your card details in the 'free' offer they'll regard that as a subscription.

Unless and until they make it clear on their website that this isn't the case I'll not be signing up.

Just clicked on the link and got a message saying there a problem with the websites security certificate!
  • I use many big sites(even my bank) that says there is problem with the security certificate.

I signed up for this the day before yesterday and they have said items are dispatched. Don't know where on earth dealme posts have gone! That is concerning. But this company has a facebook page and is defo trying to promote its customers wares and is actively promoting tryvertising for new customers.

Annoyed that there is no telephone number.

But is trying to promote the free trial even on facebook and seem very friendly.

DealMe's post were removed as they were clearly spamming this thread with over-friendly upbeat posts about the deal and 'DealMe' was, almost certainly, an employee or the proprietor of BuzzSoc.

I'm sure they'll despatch some stuff - but you only have their 'very friendly' words on Facebook and DealMe's words here (now gone) to say they're a legit outfit or that it's good stuff. And they carefully don't tell you whether or not you've signed up for their subscription scheme.

I suspect you've just signed up to a £7 monthly debit, and monthly deals that cost a further £5.95 to deliver, and that the items might be a bit cheap, but I'm happy to be wrong.

Perhaps you should be asking them on Facebook and on Twitter whether you've been 'subscribed' and how you get out of it if you have. See if they're still as friendly in releasing that info - if they are that's good, if not...

And always be very suspicious of any retail site that doesn't have a phone number.

Edit and update 23rd Aug 0720: I see from the posts below that we've reassured this isn't the case - no automatic sign-up, so it looks like I was wrong, which is good.

I'm still a little wary though, I really didn't like the way they spammed this thread initially, it made them appear dodgy. But they've now written down clearly that there is no ongoing charge, and so in that respect there's nothing to worry about...

There's now a question on their Facebook page (by RexClinton) specifically asking about the subscription issue - no reply so far, and someone's been tweeting to them about it too - no reply to that either.
