Where to go shore and pier fishing in East Antrim / North Down

Hi, I'm new to fishing, and just recently got a spinning line for pier / shore fishing - I wanted this as it isn't licensed or taxed.

Just wondering, as I life in Belfast, where the best place to go fishing is for this? Is there anywhere in Belfast I can fish, or if I need to go to Carrick or North Down or wherever, where I should be headed and what time is best to go there?

Also am I looking to fish in high or low tides for each area? I know the bbc does a tide book but not sure what any of it means.

I haven't much experience with regards to sea fishing but there always a few people fishing of the pier / rocks in Bangor. Have a chat to them and also pop into the Trap and tackle shop just opposite the pier and they could also advise on locations. Good luck. If you get chance let me know how you get on, might have a go myslef some day.
