Nationwide Mortgage - Signed Acceptance???

Options
hello all

I have just exchanged contracts and bene provided with an information sheet by the solicitor. It has a section regarding mortgages and in it, it says:

"make sure you have met all outstanding conditions on the mortgage, including returning signed acceptances, clearing required debts, started direct debit mandates and provided details of buildings insurance".

In my nationwide mortgage offer it says "Ther is no need to sign or return the Mortgage Offer, as this is your copy. A copy of your mortgage offer has been forwarded on to the conveyancer, whom you should contact regarding any queries and the next steps".

So - my question is - should i have signed an acceptance to the mortgage or not? has anyone had a nationwide mortgage recently who can confirm?

Also - Nationwide havent requested a copy of the nuilding insurance. Should i supply one?

  • I have had my offer for my mortgage with Nationwide and called my conveyancer to ask what I needed to do next, they said that they would also receive a copy and would send their copy out to me for me to sign and return to the conveyancer.

I would send a copy of the buildings insurance to Nationwide as I'm pretty sure its a condition of the mortgage with them.
  • Would that be the same as a Mortgage Deed?

Ive just read in the mortgage offer document -

"You are not bound by the terms of this offer document until you have signed the legal charge and the funds are released for your mortgage".
  • I sent proof of buildings insurance to my solicitor as they will need it to prove all conditions of the mortgage are met prior to Nationwide releasing funds.
  • Do you also send your building insurance direct to your mortgage lender?
  • No, just my solicitor.
