Northern Rock Mortgage Exit Fees - Help Needed

Options
Hi,

I hope someone out there can help. I sent Martins template to Northern Rock and heard back from them today. Not happy with their response. I had a mortgage with them from Dec'02 to April'05. I was charged an exit fee of £175.00. They sent me a letter telling me they will pay me £15 back. That the fee that applied when my mortgage contract was initiated was £160.
They didnt enclose the cheque for £15, but for me to sign an acceptance declaraion for the £15.

Does anyone know if this is right? Was expecting more back.

Thanks.

  • NR have had an exit fee pledge in place for a few months that says something along the lines of they will only charge the fee that applied when you took out the mortgage and if you've been charged more, they'll refund the difference. The difference between £160 and £175 is £15.
