Try downloading G-Spot Codec from: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/GSpot.htm
Yesm I know the name suggests things other..! But you just have to install (no spyware as far as I have noticed) and drag n drop your video onto the program. It then tells you what file type the video clip is and what codecs you need to view it (and if you have them already).
I think it's invaluable!

I found this link a while ago. Simply enter the Youtube video URL and then when it's downloaded right click and save as 'the name of the video'. It can then be played in Windows media player. I've downloaded a few this way and burned them to disc.
