Why not see if you can get the kids involved in cooking if you don't like doing it too much, maybe one night a week they do the dinner? Or maybe they'll enjoy baking some cakes or biscuits to replace expensive junk food? You'll get much more for your money out of a bag of flour and a few other ingredients than a pack of choc bars and still be able to have those little treats on a smaller budget

Buy flea treatments for the cats online- I personally use Animeddirect [I am in no way connected to the company]. This has been considerably cheaper than buying from our vets.

I've been getting my 14yo involved in the cooking using one of the student cookbooks [Nosh for Students by Joy May]- there's bound to be something along these lines you can borrow from the library. He's chosen what he fancies cooking and then I've explained to him the ways in which we can further decrease the cost of some of the ingredients.
