6 Language Euro Travel Translator....faulty?

A while back I ordered a translator via a newspaper offer for £2.70 (usually £20). It turned up today and is faulty, has anyone else received the "6 Language Euro Travel Translator", and if so is it just my bad luck or is anyone else having problems getting the blooming thing to work at all? (I've followed the instructions to the letter several times)
I've sent an email to the company I ordered it from (moomamarket) to see they say/offer.
