Abbey national mortgage query any help??

Hi there I am looking for some help in relation to PPI on a mortgage with Abbey National. I am pretty sure that the mortgage had PPI applied to it and in hindsight was not applicable as I was self employed. I have asked for a copy of the T&C and I have been issued a copy of the letter confirming my mortgage acceptance which shows the amount of the mortgage plus a statement which reads SPECIAL CONDITIONS: A mortgage guarantee policy in the sum of £6100 with Royal Insurance. The premium of £427 is included in the total loan and will be sent direct to the insurance company by us on completion.
Am I right in thinking this could be the PPI or is this something different? I'm struggling to get any help from Santander on this and it's taken me over 100 days to get a copy of this let alone anything else! Any help would be appreciated!

sounds like a high lending charge, which you wont get back. its charged on high loan to value mortgages.
it wont be ppi as abbey didnt charge single premium ppi on mortgages.0 -
Abbey National should be able to tell you over the phone if you paid PPI on your mortgage. I rang them and they told me direct and then took my complaint over the phone. A couple of weeks later we received an offer from them for £2500.
Good luck:)0 -
its not ppi, its a high lending lending charge.0

Abbey National have never done single premium PPI on mortgages. So, it will not be that.
What the OP describes is a MIG (as mentioned higher up).I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. So is this fee we were charged the same as our MIG as that is detailed also as a different charge? Thanks for all your help!4th December 2010 - The day I married my best friend, all that's left to do now is live happily ever after :heartpuls0
