Family Tree Software Download

I am looking to download software for recording my family tree, I dont want to pay a subcription and know most of the details its just i want to have a record. Any help would be great.

I haven't used it myself, but other people I know have used GRAMPS. It's free, and available for a number of operating systems.

I have used the one from familysearch the latter day saints one for years. So easy to use, prints great charts and can then be transferred to gedcom to upload.

I have a few programmes that I use to store my tree info, each has a different way of displaying and/or printing the details so I jump between them depending on what I am actually doing at the time.

I use an older version of Brother's Keeper for some of the stuff that I print off to send to people as it has better options than some of the other progs. (I can't vouch for the latest version)

PAF is the mormon family search program that a lot of people start with.

BUT, I have to say that I am surprised you dont want a sub - I have been working on my tree for 10 years and I still find new information all the time. No one wants just names and dates, its the every day stuff, wills, certs, apprenticeships, poor laws, court cases that brings it to life.

I usually buy a familytreemaker program from amazon a previous years version - platinum edition - which comes with 6 months premium subscription to ancestry.co.uk. This has been costing me only £25 for the program (which is superfluous for me) and the 6 month sub. Bargain. MInd you, with the new series of WDYTYA on tv now, I think the prices may go up for a while, they normally do.

I have used the free version of Legacy Family Tree & found it very easy to use.
