I have been offered a job with a company. Just been sent a reference/background check form from the security watchdog.
Everything else is fine, apart from my previous job reference. My current manager is great and has asked me to give her email id etc and said she'd give me a glowing reference.
But my job before that, well it's a different matter altogether. I was basically poached by my current company and had to leave my previous one with a shorter than standard notice. 2 week instead of 4. Understandably, the manager wasn't too happy.
Is this going to bite me in the **** ? Is there anything I can do ?
Thanks.

Dunno. You didn't have to leave giving less notice - you chose that. So it depends what they say and how it is taken.0

I know marybelle01. It's just that the golden handshake was pretty lucrative. Grrrrr.
I tried calling my manager today, but he's moved to a different branch now and the current number is invalid. Whose email address and phone number do I give ? Maybe speaking to the person who I give as the reference might help ?0 -
It might. And it might not. Sorry, but it is called "burning bridges", and if you have burnt them.... Four weeks notice was not unreasonable.0

What do they want from this reference, a glowing one or a confirmation that you were working where you say you were working when you say you were working there? If it's the latter (and even if it's not) then I'd just get it sent to the HR manager. You could phone them and check what they'll say ...Signature removed for peace of mind0
