Can I keep natwest step account ?

Hi will I be able to keep my natwest step account, its a basic account with no credit or cheque facilities ?

I would like to know when is the best time to book the date for bankruptcy ?

Do I wait until the bank/credit card companys get outside agencies involved ? or is sooner the better ?

Thanks

This depends entirely on your banks policy for bankrupts. I would check this out with an anonymous phone call.

Entirely depends on where you live in the country. Check your local court with a phone call. Some have appointments , some you turn up and wait.

Get some free advice from one of the agencies listed below.
    Thanks

    CCCS
    Payplan
    CAB Money advice unit.

If you get to the BR stage , the judge will ask if you have taken professional advice and all these agencies are recognised by the courts.

We used the CAB and they took us through everything step by step. Others have used different agencies and been happy with their advice,

  • Thanks tight jock, I have taken advice from free debt line numbers I cant remember the name I think it was insolvency ?

We also had an arrangement with gregory pennington debt management for three months but most of our creditors would not except the offers and we were struggling to pay our utility bills and eat. We run up the debts whilst employed and able to pay for them.

This is our situation at the present my partner cannot work as he is recovery from an operation, we only have state benefits to survive on

    17.45 child benefit
    21.00 child tax credit
    121.00 incapacity benefit
    total £159.45 per week

we get full housing benefit and council tax benefit.

    Our outgoings monthly are:
    Cat insurance £5.23
    Car insurance £28.00
    Garage rental £26.00
    phone, tv, internet, mobile £70.00
    water rates £30.00
    Gas + elec £52.00
    home ins £15.00
tv licence £34.00 per quater = £11.00 per month
    car tax £16.00
    petrol £ 100.00

    total outgoings per month £353.23

£284.57per month or £71.14 per week left for food, clothes etc
we are a family of three but every other weekend and half the holidays we have our other two girls also.

We need a car as I had to move towns due to problems with my ex partner and my girl lives with her dad 50 miles away it is much cheaper to run a car than five of us travel by public transport.

If anyone could offer any help or advice it would be much appreciated.

We have been advised by several agencies our only option is bankruptcy.

Me too, It really is stressful, so the sooner you get it behind you the easier it will be on you and your family, I can actually enjoy spending time with my kids now without fear or feeling a big axe over my head.

We wasted 11 months on a Debt Management Plan before we went Br.If we had done it at the beginning it would have been pretty much over with now.If you are sure that Br is for you,you have taken advise, and you have the fee's saved up,I would not spend too long thinking about it.
