As an accountant I would have expected you to demand documentary evidence to back up anything and everything verbal.0 -

Yes, I would have been better off having gotten everything documented.
However, it is absolutely wrong to suggest I knew this person to be unqualified at the time.
I only came on here for advice from a supportive community who have experience of a many and varied range of activities. All the time understanding with hindsight I would have done things differently, and may not have been in this position.
I'm not unfalable, and have yet to find anyone who isn't.0
