Yes, settling the CCJ would help. You should also check to see if you can get it set aside, which will allow it to be completely removed from your credit record. If it's possible, getting it set aside is much, much better than leaving it on your credit file as a settled CCJ.0

This large four letter bank has told me that they will probably lend me the required amount once the CCJ is settled does that seem feasiable with all your knowledge.Who I am is not important. What I do is.0 -
I actually like HSBC a lot, I wish they would sell their mortgages through us brokers thoughI am a Mortgage Adviser

Thankyou for all your comments
I know that my account was not run in the best manner at one stage and i did go over my overdraft limit a couple of times last year. I myself was surprosed that the bank offered me a mortgage at all last year. I only claimed my charges back as they reduced my limit on my credit card by £500 without telling me late last year and therefore needed some money to be able to get to work.
I was just surprised that last year they were thorwing borrowing facilities at me (which on taking up have always paid on time) and then suddenly i fail there credit checks when my Experian fille has not changed. ( i was planning on paying off all borrowing apart from the mortgage with the equity from my sale)
I have a meeting with there Mortgage Broker on Friday along with and independant IFA tommorow.
Perhaps if i look on the bright side the bank in question might let me increase my mortgage with them by more just not the full 50K.0 -

I agree, I think they used to? We occasionally direct people there for non-standard construction properties, or where the client banks with them and needs a big income stretch. Was there a rumour that they were looking into this?
There is. As Midland Bank they always used to deal with brokers. They apparently have realised that, as approx 70% of all new mortgage business in the UK is transacted via intermediaries, they may be missing out on some very lucrative business.
Early days from what I gather but there are definately plans afoot to begin accepting intermediary business however I believe that it will be trialed via a few specific networks initially.
May be wrong, just what I have heard oner the last few months.0 -
spoke to bank today and everything is fine with them they will even lend me more than i originally thought if i wanted. I need the certificate to prove that ive paid off my CCJ and if i provide them with a copy of my experian report they will not need the credit search.
Will a print out of my credit expert report from experian suffice or will i need to pay the £2 for a posted one???
It just shows that you still get more personal service from the branch and not just the "computer says no" response.
If like me youve had problems in the past just remember to try your bank they might surprise you.0 -
You'll have to ask them what form of credit report they want but I expect it to be the postal one. Good to hear that they are being flexible.0
