newbie :)

Hi!i thought i would sort out my debt once and for all! and thought by joining this site it will hopefully keep me motivated!

I currently owe:
Credit Card - £2200
Catalog - £2,000
Loan - £5000
Overdraft - £350.00
Store Card - £250.00

i recently took out a new credit card with BArclays as the interest free period on my exsisting one has run out - and was also going to use this card to pay of my catalog & Overdraft!

IS there a difference between a balance transfer and just using your credit card to pay off another card in full!? i thought the latter would be quicker to get ther debt transferred?

Hopefully aim to be debt free in the next two years!

You owe a lot less than I did two years ago and I'm debt free now! Stick with it.

    Hi and Welcome

You can't just use your card to pay off another card - you have to do a balance transfer - and these do incur the balance transfer fee.

But they are the right way to move the debt across to a new 0% card.

You may be able to pay off the catalogue with your credit card - if they allow payments by credit card. Is the new card 0% on purchases as well as on balance transfers?

Usually you cannot pay off an overdraft with a 0% credit card. The only way to do this is if the credit card offer money transfer / super balance transfers. Barclays do not usually offer this on new accounts - and only occasionally on older accounts.

What brand is your existing credit card?

  • exsisting credit card is Marks and spencer.

im not to fussed about my overdraft as i pay this off everymonth - and then go back into it! i plan to that once the cards are cleared to use the money i was using for them to pay the overdraft off.
