hi guys...I am a part-qualified accountant who wants to make a career move to IT...maybe something like business information technology.
The problem for me is that I have no idea where to start or what course to take. I live in Birmingham and i am a single mum. Where can i go to get advice and help with funding? FYI, i did my accountancy course (ACCA) at a college. Thanks

"IT" is a massive spectrum of areas and jobs and so you need to be much more specific about what you want to do, what areas of interest you have etc.
A common entry point is as a helpdesk operator and you basically start off the same as any call centre agent and need little knowledge or experience in "IT". The problem with it is that it is also where many people end their IT careers too as they dont find a way out of it and into what they want to do.
So are you interested in development, issue management, analysis, project management, testing, design, team management. Likewise are you interested in infrastructure, databases, middleware, web services, front end?0 -
Thanks for replying InsideInsurance:T...i am very business-minded,however, something like project management would be a good start I believe.0
