Unable To Access Credit Report

Hi all,

After having been discharged from my BR for over a year now, I'd dearly like to improve my credit rating where possible. Having been inspired by the advice on here, I've been trying to access my CR to no avail...

I have tried on several occasions to register to view my credit report - however the main two, Experian and Equifax only appear to accept payment via a credit card and, for obvious reasons, I no longer have one and only have a bank account with Visa Debit card. Each time I've tried to process payment, the card (with the correct details) comes back as being incorrect / invalid.

I hope I'm overlooking something glaring obvious, but right now feel that I'm in a catch 22 scenario whereby I can't access details of my credit, without credit itself.

I hope you can point me in the right direction to help me get back on track.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi currencyconfused and welcome to the BR board.

You will find companies report to one of the CRAs rather than all three, that's why it's suggested that you get your credit files from all three of the CRAs to see what's held on there. Also bear in mind some companies ignore the credit files and use their own credit scoring system

Your accounts remain marked as defaulted. But you'll need to get all three credit files and make sure that:

    - The default date is on or before your BR date.
    - The current balance is marked as settled/satisfied in some way.

Just print off the application forms, send a P.O. for £2 and post this recorded delivery.
As I have said they are £2 each for paper copies. Some people have used the online ones and have said the information wasn't as good compared to the paper copies.
