help/ advice/ guidance neded!

Hi Everyone,

I know everyone is so helpful in this forum, I just hope someone can help me.

My mum is disabled. 3 years ago my dad disappeared, leaving her in a position where due to his debts, she was being made bankrupt. For the last 3 years, we have been paying all her bills, and her house has been put up for sale.

Problem is, due to the housing market being poor, the house is not selling and money is starting to be very tight. Any ideas how/ what we should do/ try next?

What is your Mum's income and what is the reason she has not been paying her own bills? If the debts were your Dad's she should not be liable for them, though if secured on a jointly owned property it may be at risk. Were any of his debts secured? Whose name is the property in?

Hi and Welcome to the Bankruptcy (BR) Board. First step is to make a list of all your Mums creditors, debts and assets. Secondly and most important is contact one of the following debt charities. Please try these they don't charge and are impartial. They will go through all her options with you and if they suggest bankruptcy then come back to this board and we will help you all we can. Also if your not ‘clicking’ with one of the Debt charities do try another. We advise you to try at least two others for your own piece of mind.

    Hi

Is your Mum on benefits as disabled. Have you checked she is getting correct amounts due, maybe worth having a look at the benefits section on this forum as well.
