You can use askMID, although you'd have to pay for the privilege. All depends how desperate you are I suppose.0 -
Or lie and claim that you own the car, then you can check for free.
It's not a guarantee though. Insurance companies can take weeks to update the database, trade policies can take even longer. The car can be insured for one person to drive and someone else actually drives it.0 -

Recently I was speaking to someone whose car was quite badly damaged by an uninsured driver.
She got her own back in quite an evil way -- she put a small label on the rear bumper of the offending car with "UNINSURED VEHICLE" written on it.
It was later relayed back to her that someone at the person's work saw the label, checked AskMID themselves and reported the driver to the manager (they'd been using the car for work purposes as well).
Fired on the spot.
No sympathy, frankly.0
