I can't see how you can keep your job.
I do think there is a cause for theft. It happened more than once and you have not volunteered to pay it back (until caught).
You should start looking for work in an area that doesn't involve working with vulnerable people.0 -
Anyway I'm not entirely convinced that this is a genuine dilemma.0

Having said that, if I was the OP's employer, I would argue that as well as the fact that borrowing money (let alone not repaying it) is a no-no, the OP could have brought the charity into disrepute. And I bet that is in any decent disciplinary policy as GM.
Exactly. Breaking professional boundaries not only puts your job in jeopardy but the entire organisation's future. I'm sorry but it's not on.0 -
would you want someone borrowing money of your grandparents?I_am_so_stupid wrote: »I didn't steal it, the customer consented to lending it to me, she only needs support a few hours a week as she is visually impaired. i agree you have been stupid but if you intended to pay her back the next day why didnt you ... and moving house is not an excuse becasue you knew you were moving house

She might have known what she was doing, but she was a vulnerable adult and you were in a position of trust. It doesnt matter that you were desperate you shouldnt have done it. You should have asked a family member or a bank for help. Its not like borrowing money from a mate.
That lady may now not trust any support people through fear of being fleeced.
I dont think you will be able to say that you didnt realize as its very basic.0 -
"Stealing" is taking something with the intent to permanently deprive. The OP said "borrowed".
And don't swear, even with an exclamation mark in place of one letter!
:rotfl:
Sorry, unless you can prove you are my Mother or father (unlikely since they are both dead), then don't dare presume to tell me what I should or should not say! < Adds on obligatory exclamation mark. :rotfl:
Taking something that does not belong to you without asking, is stealing. Even if the intent was only to appropriate temporarily.
Dress it up as much as you like, it is what it is.
I know many vulnerable people, they are easy targets unfortunately.
And for the record, I just dont believe the OP's further posts. If she had permission to borrow from this person, she'd have said so in the first post.Herman - MP for all!

Well read the first post again!
It clearly says "borrowed" and "every intention of repaying" in the first paragraph.
Then read the forum rules!0 -

Oh my.
I don't care if it said borrowed. The OP is hardly going to say 'I stole'.
I also don't care if the intention was to repay. That is a 'by the by'.
!!!!!!!!! < You seem to like these so I've posted more just for you.
