Peel another layer off the onion - 'phone the bank, or go outside where it's a perfect summer afternoon, and dig up some more spuds? Decisions, decisions.. :cool2:

Or Option Three: Check emails again and 'phone the guy.. :o
    Result.
Phew! Now have a paper trail at least, feel reassured this is a reputable company, and my bank details are safe.. :)

YG has just been defeated by the p o o mountain.. Hope he hasn't given himself sunstroke! There's still loads of manure in the gateway - what's the betting that the next onion layer will be NastyN turning up for a rant about it?

Hey Robin, have to admit I thought the poo man was something to do with a septic tank how much nicer to find it's fertiliser!

    Hello Diary and MSEers, :hello:

CD and I awoke to a beautiful morning; cool, fresh and calm. The finch tribe are arguing over their breakfast of ants in Almond Two - they are so cute and funny...
Ah, no I'm wrong. The finches are actually tweeting a warning - sparrow-hawks hunting overhead!
 ..How the World looks all depends on one's perspective, eh?

Hi Sun.A, it would indeed. But I've checked the box where I keep a note of outstanding loans on bits of old envelope [lol]; there are none of this amount or anywhere near - it's not exactly £4K but something like £437 over.. An odd sum.
Am thinking it's more likely someone tried to transfer money into an account which has a very similar number to mine, maybe one digit out?
After yesterday, certainly know how I'd feel if it was my dosh which had gone astray, so it can stay where it is and I'll wait to see if the bank gets in touch.

As for my £2K; well, the camper it's supposed to be a deposit for has been removed from the dealer's list and is coming up on Autotrader as sold - so it looks like karma worked; CD and I will have comfy beds over the summer. :p
MSE Divo Three is not best pleased; says it's much too expensive! (worried Mum is spending his inheritance? :rotfl:).
Can see his point, but what swung it for yours truly is that this van comes with a guarantee - do not want to spend m' summer crawling underneath a cheap vehicle, then handing out cash for repairs while we're stuck on a garage forecourt!
Of course it's never ideal to buy without looking first, so as a safeguard the AA are going to inspect it before the deal goes through. ;)

Nasty Neighbour hasn't turned up. He'd be outside hollering by now if he wanted a fight, so hopefully I can relax - YG will be back tomorrow to finish shifting the p o o.
Must say, it's Olympic-class stuff; well-rotted, sweet-smelling, deep-litter horse manure - perfect for feeding all m' cultivated trees and improving soil in the veg beds. Am so glad we only ordered a half-load though; at a guess there must be over five cubic metres - a fantastic deal for £80! :D

    Hi Dansmam, oh goodness! :rotfl:
Hmm, that would have been a stink! :(
I've never had to have a septic tank pumped out. When properly cared for, all the 'product' is consumed by friendly bacteria and the water which comes out isn't offensive - at the Nest it feeds bananas and aloe vera plants quite happily. :)

    Forgot Spends yesterday:
    CD's inoculations - £24
    'Phone creds - £38
YG - £90 (plus £45 in mobile fund - he jumped at the chance to take on m' wretched smart-fone, when I mentioned I was going to sell it [just too complicated :o]. Happy to give him a good deal - YG deserves a bonus after his efforts yesterday! ;)).
    P o o - £80

    Morning Robin.
Sounds like you are progressing with various plans. I am sure if the funds are yours then something will come to light and if not then you can query it with the bank. Just a thought do you have any annuities that may pay out? Just thinking it is end of tax year when such things are usually done?
Enjoy the weather I am prepping for a new lodger here so much cleaning and general maintenance is on the agenda for today.

Sparky, does your particular branch of the money business involve understanding bank reference codes on transfers, as they appear on a statement? It's the only clue I've got re the unexpected £4K..

    Hi Robin

Dear Diary and MSE Friends, :hello:

    Yesterday:
Summer has arrived at the Nest overnight. The air is still, and baking hot. Birds are quiet, flies and no-see-ums abound. Even the bees are just dawdling about their business. The so-called 'lawn' which DS3 strimmed before he left, has turned to crunchy yellow stubs, as has everything not being fed by an irrigation pipe.
Water level is already worryingly low in m' bore-hole - SmileyNeighbour had no less than three wells dug on his land a couple of weeks ago, much too close together - that's had an immediate effect (so the Nest is now surrounded by five illegal wells :().

Hi Missrlr, you got me wondering there.. But just before the big crash DH liquidated his 'hobby shares' and the ones I inherited. Pretty certain all that's left are the unsellable WW1 Government Bonds passed down from GreatGrandpa..? Tbh, I'd be surprised if those have paid out £4K interest in the last hundred years! :rotfl:

Ooh, fingers crossed your new lodger is a 'goodie' - exciting but unnerving times, taking someone into your home. Do hope everything goes well - and you're not doing too much standing on that ankle while getting both room and shared space to the standard you want New Lodger to live up to! :)

Hi Dansmam, yes am joining the camper-van afficionados for the summer. :)
It's the easiest solution when travelling with a blind dog, and sometimes needing an instant comfy bed m'self.
Reckon your DD and BGF [Best Girl Friend?] are doing it the way I ought to really; is their van a good deal off Bay of E?
DS3 keeps telling me about great offers - Mercs mostly - which are being auctioned now, but I don't have the bottle to buy unseen from a private seller.. :(

Not that the route I've chosen is proving hassle-free: Dealer is happy for the AA to inspect the vehicle, but wants it done before putting van through the workshop to prepare it for delivery.
The AA want to see the thing once it's got a new MOT; ready for the customer. Expecting to give it a clean bill of health - which is their guarantee to me.
    Impasse. :o

    Today:
it doesnt necessarily but I deal with many so many recognise it? PM if I can help I will try x

    Thanks for offering, Sparky. :)
Was just going to pm you, so wrote down the reference code of that unexpected deposit - - then suddenly twigged; the first three letters are PPI..
It must be nearly a couple of years since I sent the paperwork to the Ombudsman; had completely forgotten about it (assumed they'd upheld L!oyds' refusal of m' claim, tbh).
So maybe Sun.A is right after all, and I can keep it! :D

T2's new window fund could certainly do with padding out, or it would bring down the cost of this camper-van to the sort of deal available on BofE (and hopefully stop DS3's objections).

    Spends:
    YG - £60 (+ £50; smart-fone paid off).
    Groceries - £40
    Crate for CD - £27
    'Phone creds - £38

Just popping it to say fingers crossed that those three little letters that have given so much annoyance to so many people result in £4K spends for you.
