Direct Debit - company taken too much again and demands month to return overpayment!
Surely this is not right - what are my rights?
This time of suffering, I have recently quit SKY. Gave them notice and was told I would only pay for approx 1/4 month of next bill. Big surprise, they took the full amount (1st Aug) and when I complained I was told I would be given credit on my next bill. What bill? I am no longer a customer!!
I raised a complaint and was told to expect an update/resolution within 3-working days. Surprise - nothing!
What are my rights? How can companies take and hold my money without just cause!?!

You can claim the last direct debit from your bank under the direct debit guarantee, tell them that you want them to do an Indemnity Claim, you will get an instant refund of the incorrect direct debit, the bank will claim the money back from Sky, then you will have to send sky the partial month that you owed.
The bank cannot give a partial refund, just the full Direct debit.0 -
Unless of course, you are paying in arrears, and the partial payment is not due until September?0
