Hi all,
Can anybody tell me how to keep my duvets and pillows big and puffy like new? I've bought new ones 3 times in the last 18 months but they always go flat and sure enough, it's happened again with the latest ones :-(
I notice center parcs manage it, surely they don't replace them more often than every 6 months??
Any advice would be greatly appreciated :-)

I find the better the quality the longer they last. These cheap fibrefill ones don't but I've got a hideously expensive hypoallegenic fibrefill one my SIL passed on to me almost brand new 10 years ago and it comes up good as new with a good shake. And my DD has a feather duvet, it puffs up well too.
Regular cleaning helps too of course but not too regular. I know someone that washs her duvets once a month, they disintegrate really quickly. If you have summer and winter duvets it's best to store them open and hanging up (I keep mine over the attic rafters, inside old duvet covers to keep the dust out) to keep the filling lofty. Vacumn bags aren't that great for lengthy storage. Also if it's a fine day I peg the duvets out on the line for a good blow through, it helps puff them up. I suspect hotels put their duvets in a big tumble drier to get the same effect.Val.0 -
Yes. What Val says.
You really need to invest in as much feather filling as you can afford. Surely instead of paying £20 three times, spend £60 once on a 100% duck down duvet. I did. Shake it out well every morning to prevent the feathers settling in patches. Air it once a week outdoors if you have space.
I've had mine 2 years now and still feel like Heidi every night when I get in bed0 -
We got our feather duvet from TKMaxx 2 years ago. It was reduced from over £200 to £60 for a super king size. Its still fluffed up now.To repeat what others have said, requires education, to challenge it,requires brains!FEB GC/DIESEL £200/4 WEEKS0

Feathers all the way. They actually sell ok ones in Primark - I think its about £20 for a double. There are many things in life that will catch your eye, only a few will catch your heart. Pursue those.0

Down - lighter and fluffier than feathers, goose is finer than duck. The higher % down the better - i spent and obscene amount of money (well for me about £120) on a 80% goose down with feather ks duvet 13 years ago and its as mushmallowy soft and fluffy as the day I bought it - a quick shake every morning.
If you have allergies a microfibre filled (not just cover) duvet is almost as light as squishabley soft - but only has ds's a few months so can't comment on the longevity.People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

We received a bamboo fibre duvet as a wedding present from my parents. It is heaven on earth
We even use it in the summer so no storage problems for us.

I bought a pair of pillows from Dunelm Mill a little while ago, sorry I forget the brand but they come as a pair and the bag is purple. They had good reviews about staying puffy and it seems fairly difficult to flatten them.
Another option is a latex pillow, they are firm and puffy rather than soft and puffy. I LOVE my latex pillow because I'm a side sleeper and it supports my head perfectly. My pillow must be 12 or more years old now and is still so puffy that pillow cases are tight on it.0 -

As above. On recommendation from a friend who has had hers for a few years I bought a king size duck feather/down from @ldi a few months ago for £20. So much nicer than the flat old fibre filled one I had before. It's lovely and billowy, I'm looking forward to years of fluffy nights0
