Well a good start to the week following the bank holiday. Took out a £7k loan with the halifax last night at 8.8% APR to cover the £4750 overdraft. The new interest charges on the overdraft would be £90 a month, which would have been over 30% APR plus it wouldnt actually be paying anything off the balance. Had to take out £7k to get the 8.8% APR, but the other £2k will go off a credit card. So thats all my debt now either on below 10% APR or 0%, althoughits only a few thousand thats on 0%. So once the end of this week goes, i'll be able to see how much we owe and to where and what the interest rate is so we can start to priortise and get chipping away.
Going Aldi tonight. We usually spend £380 a month on the food and shopping, hoping to reduce this by 25% and use the additional money for the debt.
Got another 6 items on ebay. Who would have though that a 13 year old pair of trainers would be so populer. £17.50 after 1 day!!!
Gold - Only had some valued so far and valued at £338. sent it off to a company that was recommended to me to see how much they will offer. If its a better price we have more to sell.
Again a positive mood this week, we just need to push on with the savings and start to priortise payments to the debt.0 -
Another week another dollar. Still need to get our debts added on here so I can start to track them better and like I said above to start to priortise and chip away at the highest interest ones. Although we usually stick xmas on a card, I thought instead of chipping away before christmas I would try and save some money so not as much will be put on a card.
The holiday savings pot is now at over £1000 in just over 5 weeks or so. Sold all unused gold for £550 and then selling through ebay, facebook and local forums and cashconvertors makes the rest. Really feel like we've turned a corner and now want to save for lifes luxury's so they feel even better. Still got plenty to sell and still a few ££'s coming from quidco. At this rate we may be able to afford a cheap caravan, which in turn would mean the selling of our tent which with some of the equipment is worth around £500.
Work is changing for the positive too with more work expected my way very soon which will in turn lead to higher wages.
Cant tell you how positive we both feel at the minute about everything. Just got to push on and stick within our means and try to make savings where ever possible.
just before I go Aldi was a great success. everything was cheaper compared with tesco so i've already slashed the weekly budget from £95 to £80, and hope to slash to nearer £70 a week by the end of september.0 -
