Can I get financial help for private courses.

I'm currently on benefits and have been doing IT courses through Itec and have been searching for private home courses but they want £300 for the course work.

Is there any grants or other means of support to further my skills which will be a plus for when I'm fit to return to work.

Any help or advice would be appreciated, thank you :)

  • Not for private courses at home but if you contact your local FE College and ask if they have "Skills Support for the Unemployed, ESF" funding. If you get no joy, ask your advisor at the job centre. This funding is from European Social Fund and administered by Skills Funding Agency to (mainly) Colleges. It can fund a range of courses including IT and does not all have to be accredited training.
