I have just applied for a mortgage with my Partner, he is on £2300 and i am on £20500. We have been offfered the amount we want loan. The thing is i have a £8000 loan which is £233 a month and a credit card with £1000 on. I have worked out my finances and i can still afford the mortgage no problem, my partner does not know about my loan. Is there a chance that our mortgage could be rejected because of this debt by partner is debt free. I know i should tell my partner but i am comfprtabe paying this debt off, Its not problem for me, and i dont wish to involve him
I am a first time buyer and dont have anyone else to ask
thanks

By itself, it won't stop you getting a loan (assuming your payments are up to date, etc, etc.)
It will probably reduce the amount the bank will lend you.

Free advice: Tell your partner. You cannot be going into long-term commitments with secrets.

When you applied for the mortgage did they not ask what loans you have?
If you didn't declare it that would be fraud, and it would usually come up in the credit search. Even if you have been offerred an agreement in principle it could still show up before the full offer.I am a Mortgage Adviser

I have put all the information on the application form. I just wondered if anyone knew if it would affect the chance of us getting our mortage, we want around 8k less than we were offered. I will tell my partner, i just know he worries0
