Buying coffee beans

I've recently come into a coffee grinder, it's a bladed one, so not the best, but I like the coffee from it compared to my normal bought ground.

I got 2 bags of Taylers 227g beans from Asda for £6, which when I worked it out, is about 30p a mug of coffee.

I suppose what I'm asking is, is there a cheaper/better way to buy beans?
I've had a look online and they all seem more expensive.

The problem is finding which coffee you like. £3 a bag is pretty good - even the supermarket own brands are in that region and some of the cheaper options from them (Sainsbury's cheapest beans for example) are pretty nasty.

I'm not sure it's much more expensive than buying ready ground coffee though and once you get the taste for it and find something you like, you won't go back.
  • Have a look online for companies sellling full cases of coffee beans. Prices start at around £30 for a case of 6 1kg bags which works out at £5 per kg (about 62% cheaper than the coffee beans you purchased in Asda).

Costco do some lovely coffee beans that work out very reasonable.
  • I ordered these yesterday:

and they work to £1.48 equivalent for the 227g bags you get in the supermarket. These are proper Barista beans with a deep strong taste and strength. My husband has a coffee machine which is bean to cup and these are lovely and he likes a strong coffee bean. Beats paying the standards prices but still getting the quality. They were £39 for 6kg inc next day delivery from Ebay.

Seconded. Work out about £10 a kilo (roughly). And they do decaf ones too.
