Grass isn't always greener.....

I was in my last job for over a year, and to begin with I really enjoyed it, after 5 months or so new systems were bought into place and the nature of my job totally changed, everyone was re-trained and we had to adapt. The new role was so mind numbingly boring, any kind of responsibility I had vanished and it got to the point I just had to get out.

I applied for a job online which sounded like a step up from my current position, and as I was desperate to get out it sounded perfect.

Ive been in my new job a week and a bit now and to be honest Im more unhappy here than I was at my last place. I have all this responsibility now (but not officially as my job title nor salary matches the responsibility) and the management seem to only care about thier money and nothing else. My Line manager told me under no uncertain terms do I make any mistakes as Ill be expected to pay for them out of my pocket, and we're talking large sums of money. Wasn't exactly the most comforting thing to hear on my first day.
The staff I just don't seem to gel with, and to be honest the company seems to be a bit of a joke -Im getting countless calls a day of angry people screaming down the phone at me telling me how awful the company is etc. Something I never had in my last job.
Its just not for me.

I don't really know what to do now for the best, I know I could go back to my last job if it came to it, as I know the management would be happy to have me back. But I don't think I could face admitting to everyone I was happier there, including my partner who I spent months complaining to about my last job. Not only that I would feel like I was just going totally backwards and I know I wouldn't be able to stay there for long before I got bored.

I want to start appplying for other jobs elsewhere but I just don't know where to start with my CV now, if I put this job down then its going to raise alarm bells that Ive been there a week and Im already looking elsewhere.

Any advice please?

Don't put this job down then if you don't need to, you're right it will probably go against you.

I wouldn't go back, just look for a new job. They may have already got your replacement anyway :)
  • Call them up today and ask for your old job back.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.
