Mountain Biking Ticket Prices

In defence of LOCOQ this sounds a fair answer and backs up what has been said on here in earlier posts.
In my case, I was lucky enough to get Velodrome and Athletics tickets for £40 each (cat. Despite there being a £20 cat A potentially available I went for Cat B tickets for tactical reasons as these became available, which paid off, but no doubt there were £20 people in similar seats to ours.
The £20 tickets were introduced for political reasons for affordability for lower income londoners, sold at a loss and subsidised by the other ticket holders. Maybe it wasn't on Locoqs website but this was well publicised during the build up that the ticket prices would allow all londoners to attend.
A more interesting question is how many £20 tickets were actually ever issued, with some speculating the numbers were quite low. I understand Locoq will confirm these numbers after the paralmpyics.
If its of any interest I had £20 tickets for the Athletics, we sat about 6 rows from the back BUT WOW what a day0 -
I got £20 tickets for swimming0

Thanks guys , i feel sooo much better now
For the MTB i had the option of £20 and £45 tickets and I made a choice....albeit the wrong one.
Not a good money saving expert am I .0 -
If it makes you feel any better, I bet that if you had clicked on the £20 tickets you would have waited for aaaaages, only to be told they were not available, by which time all the other tickets would have been gone! Glad you had a great day out anyway.
I completely agree that there is an expectation from the ticket categories and prices that you would get a better view/seat etc for a higher category. I
f they were going to be politically correct with a low price ticket quota, then why didn't they ensure these went to people who could not afford the higher prices - all seems a bit of a 'show' if you ask me. You could get a very hard up person who had scrimped and saved subsidising someone 'rich' who was lucky enough to get a cheap ticket.Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!0 -
i tried so many times for other tickets but didn't get a thing and as you say waited ages to find out they weren't available.
But lucky for me as I live within walking distance from Hadleigh MTB i got tickets for Sat and Sun . I would have liked to see the athletics stadium but couldn't get anything even for Paralympics . Oh well I had great days out at the MTB .0 -
They are going to be releasing more tickets still for the paras, including after it starts when they have seating finalised (or something) but you do have to OBSESSIVELY check the website and then be REALLY quick. As of course I'm sure you are aware. I have noticed that they do release a ton of tickets at the same time though. Athletics always go first - you might be better off trying for something else to have a better chance of getting in to the park. Good luck.Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!

Thats why my tactic was to go for the £40 tickets vs the £20 at my event. My thinking was everyone would work their way up the ticket scale, so better to just dive straight in the 2nd tier. I would recommend this to anyone if they see paralympics tickets appear.juliebunny wrote: »f they were going to be politically correct with a low price ticket quota, then why didn't they ensure these went to people who could not afford the higher prices - all seems a bit of a 'show' if you ask me. There would have been free tickets given to children/the armed forces/special groups so the higher tickets paid for these so these were guaranteed to get in.
The £20 was just to encourage people to apply vs let them in yes. I guess a rich person morally shouldn't have applied but of course they would, and adding some sort of means teat to test these applicants would've been impossible.0 -

so true. I probably sat through that scenario at least a dozen times (and mostly in the middle of the night/early hours of the morning) before finally getting the cheapest category tickets, and that was for one of the less popular sessions. The people who are saying you need to obsessively check the website are right, sadly it's the only way so if you are at home or work with a computer then you have a much better chance of happening to check at the right time and getting lucky.
Hope everyone still searching finds something. It makes me really proud that the Para's are selling out for the first time ever. I keep seeing the athletes on tv talking about how excited they are about performing in front of such big crowds. I can't wait!0 -
Just seen this thread as applying for the refund that was recommended at the mountain biking event was on my "to-do" list. I won't bother now so thanks for all the information.
However I would like to point out what fantastically good value we had at the paralympics last weekend. Having been unsuccessful in applications for the olympic park for the olympics we applied for paralympic tickets last Autum and were lucky enough to get Saturday passes for the olympic park (allowing us to see basketball, wheelchair tennis and goalball, £10 each for the day as well as the big screens), athletics on Saturday evening (£20 each) then swimming heats on Sunday morning (£10 each); also managed to find great value overnight stay at Ibis London City (half-price promotion) at short notice so overall had a great time. And the cheaper, further back tickets all had full visibility. I've had great days at all of the London 2012 events we were lucky enough to attend.:j0
