    1. This Competition is jointly organised by Discovery Communications Europe Limited (Company No. 05039068) located at Discovery House, Chiswick Park Building 2, 566 Chiswick High Road, London, W4 5YB, United Kingdom and Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority of [PO Box 94000, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates], Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (collectively, the "Promoter"). All participants taking part in this Competition (”Participant(s)”) will be deemed to have read and understood these rules (“Rules” which term includes any amendments thereto) and to have agreed to be bound by them. The Promoter will publish any amendments to the Rules on the website dsc.discovery.com (“Website”) and participants agree that the amendments shall form part of the Rules, and shall apply to this Competition from the date of publication on the Website. All entry instructions form part of the Rules.

    2. The Competition is open to residents of Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines, Hong Kong, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, India, United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Finland, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Russia and Flanders excluding employees of Promoter and their families, the Promoter's agents or anyone professionally associated with the Competition.     3. Participants must be 18 years old and over, and must possess a valid national passport. Proof of identification may be required at the request of the Promoter.

    4. Participants expressly declare and represent that (i) they submit to the laws and jurisdiction of the United Kingdom in participating in this Competition and (ii) they are individuals and not a company or any professional and/or commercial entity.

    5. The Competition will run from 1 August 2012 to 2 September 2012. The closing time and date for receipt of entries is 23:59 hr. (GMT) on 2 September 2012.

    6. Method of Entry

    No purchase is necessary to enter the Competition.

    The Competition must be entered online at the Website (dsc.discovery.com) where Participants must complete an online registration form and answer in English language two multiple choice questions and also answer the question ‘Tell us in 100 words what you want to see in Abu Dhabi and why we should send you there'.

    7. By entering, the winners agree to give their consent, by way of signing a waiver and release form, to the Promoter to use their names and local areas of residence in any publicity relating to the competition and to provide photos of their trip for any publicity relating to the competition.

    8. Prizes

    There is one grand prize which is a six-day/five night trip for the winner and one guest to Abu Dhabi (“Grand Prize”) which shall consist of:

    • Two return economy class tickets on Etihad Airways from any Etihad Airways destination to Abu Dhabi International Airport (all flights to take place between 1 October 2012 and 31 December 2012 inclusive)

    • Two-night stay (including breakfast and twin-share) in Emirates Palace luxury hotel

    • One-night stay (including breakfast and twin-share) in Desert Islands Resort & Spa by Anantara

    • One-night stay (including breakfast and twin-share) in Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara

    • One-night stay (including breakfast and twin-share) in Yas Viceroy Hotel

    • Car travel for two from: Abu Dhabi City to Qasr Al Sarab; Qasr Al Sarab to Desert Islands Resort & Spa; Desert Islands Resort & Spa to Abu Dhabi city

    • One-day tour for two in Abu Dhabi city and one day tour for two in Al Ain (operated by The Vision Destination Management)

    • Two VIP tickets to Ferrari World Abu Dhabi

    • Two VIP tickets to Wadi Adventure (includes entry to the park and a Surf, Raft and Airpark trip)

    The Grand Prize is valued at USD 4,084.

    There are five runner-up prizes (each a “Runner-up Prize”) each of which consist of:

    • 1 coffee table book that contains images of Adu Dhabi and latest information about it; and

    • 1 Montegrappa pen.

    Each runner-up prize is collectively valued at USD 177.

    Winners of any prize will be required to comply with the laws, regulations and customs the winner's country of residence, host countries, and conditions stipulated by prize sponsors such as the Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority, Etihad Airways, and host hotels.

    In the event that Etihad does not fly to the airport nearest to the winner's address of residence (as disclosed in entry form), the winner must arrange transport to an airport where Etihad does operate at his/her own cost.

    The Grand Prize must be taken and the trip completed between 1 October 2012 and 31 December 2012, and will be subject to availability and blackout periods determined by Etihad Airways in its sole discretion as well as all other terms and conditions imposed by Etihad Airways. The Grand Prize winner will be notified of the exact travel details. The dates of the trip may be subject to change for reasons beyond the Promoter's and/or Etihad's control. In the event of any rescheduling of the trip, alternative travel dates will be offered to the Grand Prize winner.

    The plane tickets of the Grand Prize will not qualify for air-miles programmes of any airline company. Once the plane tickets have been issued, they will not be modified except by the Promoter or Etihad. The Grand Prize may not be combined with any other promotions or special offers.

    The Grand Prize winner and guest must travel together in all instances, on the same dates and time, take the same flight and share the same room in all provided accommodation. The Grand Prize winner will forgo the Grand Prize in totality if the Grand Prize winner fails to attend the scheduled flight, and the Promoters and all prize sponsors shall have no further obligation to Grand Prize winner. The Promoters and all prize sponsors have no legal obligation to the Grand Prize winner's guest, and the Grand Prize winner is responsible for his/her guest at all times, including ensuring that the guest is present and on time for all scheduled travel. The Grand Prize winner shall be solely responsible for any other expense incurred by the Grand Prize winner and/or guest, which has not been expressly undertaken by the Promoter in these Rules, including but not limited to, visas and passports expenses and fees, airport taxes, applicable personal taxes arising in any jurisdiction, vaccination expenses, travel and all other types of insurance, travel authorisations, additional trips, country entry and exit fees and taxes, tips, personal expenses, food and beverages and any entrance fees for local attractions. The Grand Prize winner and guest are solely responsible for complying with applicable regulations of their respective countries of residence, and host country and obtaining the necessary documentation for the trip, including but not limited to passports, visas and other permits, and vaccinations as required by the host country.

    The Grand Prize winner will not be eligible for the Grand Prize if the Grand Prize winner is not able to secure the necessary travel documents such as passport and/or visa for any reason whatsoever, in time for scheduled travel. There shall be no replacement or substitute prize or any other form of compensation, and the Promoter may in its sole discretion determine whether to select another Grand prize winner.

    The Grand Prize winner and guest agree that they undertake the trip stated in the Grand Prize at their own risk. The Grand Prize winner understands that the Grand Prize is being made available to the Grand Prize winner and guest on condition that the Grand Prize winner will hold safe the Promoters from any claims or liability arising from any loss or damage, injuries, illness, loss or expenses arising from the trip or any part of the Grand Prize.

    9. Any applicable taxes on prizes will be paid by the winners, to the fullest extent permitted by the law allows of each applicable jurisdiction. It is the responsibility of winners to report their prizes to the relevant authorities and to pay any applicable tax or duties.

    10. The prizes are non-exchangeable, non-transferable and non-refundable and there is no cash alternative in whole or in part. The prizes are subject to availability and in the event of circumstances outside of its control the Promoter reserves the right to substitute a similar or alternative prize of equal or greater value. The prizes must be taken up only by the winners.

    11. The Grand Prize and the Runner-Up Prizes shall be awarded to Participants who submit the best answer (as determined by the Promoter in its sole discretion) to the question as decided by the Promoter ‘Tell us in 100 words what you want to see in Abu Dhabi and why we should send you there' and selected from all entrants who correctly answer both multiple choice questions.

    12. The decision of the Promoter will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

    13. Winners will be selected and notified by email by Monday 17 September 2012 using the details submitted by the winner with their contest entry. A list of winners will also be published on the Website. Each winner must claim and collect his/her prize no later than by Tuesday 25 September 2012, 18:00 hr (GMT). In the event that, for any reason whatsoever, any winner does not or is not able to claim his/her prize by the stipulated time, whether due to a failure to comply with these Rules, or if the winner cannot be contacted from the details supplied, then the prize will be deemed forfeited, and Promoter may at its sole discretion determine whether to select another winner from all of the remaining entries. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any Participant and/or winner in the event of non-compliance with these Rules, and in its sole discretion determine whether to select alternate winners.

    14. The Promoter reserves the right to vary details of any of the prizes, or substitute any prize with a prize of equivalent value. The Promoter may at its sole discretion extend the closing time and date, suspend, terminate or modify the Competition and/or the Rules prior to the closing date by notice published on the Website.

    15. By participating in this Competition, Participants hereby consent to the transfer and assignment of all of its rights to any intellectual property in the Participant's entry to Promoter. All submitted entries will not be returned to the Participant, and shall be the exclusive property of the Promoter, and the Promoter shall have the exclusive right to use or deal with the entries and content therein, including for example, to modify and publish the entries or any part thereof, and to license, sublicense and assign rights thereto to third parties.

    16. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Participant agrees that Discovery Communications Europe Limited's privacy policy set forth in http://www.discoveryuk.com/privacy-policy/ shall apply to the treatment of each Participant's personal data, and consents to the transfer of their personal data by Discovery Communications Europe Limited as Data Controller to its affiliate Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific PTE. LTD situated in Singapore and to Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority situated in United Arab Emirates as Data Processors (as defined in the United Kingdom's Data Protection Act 1998) for the purposes of the administration of this Competition and any other purposes to which the Participant has consented. Where required by applicable law, Promoter will comply with applicable local law on protection of personal data and warrants that all personal data received in connection with the Competition will be treated in accordance with the standards set out in the Data Protection Act 1998.

    17. The Promoter cannot accept any responsibility for any damage, loss, injury or disappointment suffered by any Participant entering the Competition or as a result of accepting any prize. The Promoter is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any computer on-line systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment or software, failure of any email or entry to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the internet, or at any website, including any injury to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in the Competition. Nothing in these Rules shall exclude the Promoter's liability for death as a result of its negligence.
