Maths Class Question: 10 + X + 2 x 3 = 66
What is the value of X?

X = 10 (or using BIDMAS X = 50)

So none of the options (2, 3 or 4 is correct)

I thought it could have been

10 + 10 is 20 + 2 is 22 times 3 which is 66 but like you said, its not one of the options.

The answer 2 would fit if the first sum was a multiplication instead of a plus.

It's up to you whether you risk that as your answer though.

Ok this probably wrong but this might help

do 2 times 3 which equals 6
then 10 plus 4 which equals 14
then plus the 2 which makes it up to 16
6+16 equals 22
then do 22 times 3
and you get 66.

So the answer is 4


(I know this isn't how you're meant to do it, but its the only way I can actually get to the answer.)

None of them are correct.

If you apply the mathematical principle of BEDMAS (Brackets, Exponents, Div, Multiplications, Adding, Substracting) you get to split
10 + X + (2 x 3) = 66
into
10+ ? + 6 = 66

So imo it`s 50.

Even if you take a calculator up and try all 3 the answers, it still doesn`t add up (ohhh I crack myself up!)

I don't know if anyone else has but I've emailed them and I'm on every day so will let you know if I get a reply and keep an eye on it to see if the answers get changed, course we can't see an end date which doesn't help much

I get a different sum......

Maths Class Question: 15 � X + (2x9) = 30
What is the value of X?
a) 2
b) 3
c) 4

Maths isn't my strong point BUT I get a strange symbol after the 15 (perhaps you have to choose).

If you do 15 - (minus) X (say X is 3) then 15 - 3 + (2 x 9) = 30

Does this then make the answer b) 3

It shows as 15 - X + (2x9) = 30 for me, so IB is correct, answer = b) 3
