Yeah its a package thats on all the lowest tariffs other than the internet and we are tied in for another year for most things. I keep trying to persuade OH to lower our internet a little but he isn't having any of it :( I might try and talk to him about it again. He's usually pretty good at getting us discounts and money off with them too which is always useful :)

Do you not get a bursary for your nursing course? Are diploma or degree?

Hi BettiePage, yeah I do get a bursary, I get 558 a month, I did take it into account on the SOA. I'm currently on Maternity leave and go back in Feb. I've just signed up to a nursing agency to help us get some more money :)

  • Are you getting the discounted council tax due to you being a student?
  • Also, you may want to have a look at your bursary entittlement as now you have a child?

Yeah getting discounted council tax and will be applying for dependants allowance this week if I can. I seem to remember I could only get help when I go back and am paying for childcare, but apparently might not be entitled to anything due to partners wages :( X

have you also looked at working tax credits you partner will need to apply...
also, if you partner applies for nursery vouchers from his employer (they are taken out before tax) and therefore will reduce is wages before tax (usually by 250 max per month) which may help in family tax credits etc etc
  • Hi there
New here and in need of advise. Our home is worth £130,000 and we have £43,000 left to pay on the mortgage and 13 years left. We want to borrow £15,000 to clear off all the debts and car loan. Our credit rating is not fantastic so we know any high street bank won't touch us. I've searched most and most are brokers that require a fee to process which I don't think is right. Any advise would be great.
    Thanks
    Rachel
