Serious help with computer needed

Hi
Recently having problems with computer, think it's a serious virus or spyware I have.
I couldn't open internet explorer unless I clicked about 20 times to get the page up, my search results get often redirected to a different site, and most seriously my entire system appeared to crash last night, virtually wiping my entire disk. I've managed to restore it back over a month - but a large amount of data is missing. Crucially I've lost a large amount of business records.
When trying to get it going again tonight, not only has the entire computer switched off, but it has caused a power failure, resulting in my trip switch being flicked up (they may not be connected, but as it's occuring at the same time, I think they are).
How can I go about:
a) ensuring all evil malware is detected and deleted;
b) restoring my lost data, which I haven't backed up;
c) monitoring the temperature of my harddrive, ram and graphics card, remotely, so I can understand if there are overheating or overpowering issues?

What type of data, where was it? how did you restore it back a month?
try scanning with malwarebytes and tdsskiller if you can the machine running, alternatively create an AV boot cd.

tripping out could be the psu or a wiring/socket/rcd problem - try a different socket initially - is it a branded machine, or a reseller/cobbled together model
recuva might be able to find your data, it really depends how it went missing.!!
