I thought it was a dessert topping but may be wrong. I know that Miracle Whip is a salad cream type thing.0

From the kraftfoods page it looks like a cold version of Angel Delight.
Or "Tip Top" maybe. edit: scratch that. think it's stiffer than tip top.0 -
Is it maybe a frozen vesion of Dream Topping?0

It's not like Angel delight at all! It tastes like ready whip/ canned whip cream topping. Really, a suitable and desireable substitute for Cool Whip is whipped cream with sugar and a tiny bit of vanilla.
Cool whip is the "margarine" (fake/ veg. oil) version of whipped cream.0 -
I'd often wondered too, but lost interest when I discovered that whatever it was it had a high fat content. I'd rather have real cream on an occasional basis.0

I found this hm version of a whipped topping on Hillbilly Housewife
http://www.hillbillyhousewife.com/whippedtopping.htm
I'd still rather have cream

Darn sight easier to just pull the foil lid off than all that malarkey

according to Cooks Thesaurus, which is a brilliant site it's a nondairy topping . It says " Cool Whip and Dream Whip are popular brands. Some of these products may include casein. "
