Like yourselves I went through this Energy moving dilemma in the Summer of 2011, I had been with Amerada which became Powergen which became EON for 10/11 years but at the time of coming to the end of my EON fixed rate there was not a competative EON deal around.
Reluctantly, and with some trepidation, I moved to EDF. To be fair to EDF dealing with them has been straight forward online and I haven't needed to phone them. There was some confusion over initially entering meter readings online (entered meter readings but got emails telling me I needed to enter meter readings).
My intention last year was to return to EON at the end of my EDF deal but again nothing competitive at the moment, so currently I will be transferring to their Blue+Promise at the end of September.
It seems to me that either EON's Energy buyers are not negotiating good deals at the moment, their company cost base is too high or they are over maximising their profits.
