Morning Good people.....
As a die hard DFW I'm constantly looking for ways to incorporate the DFW lifestyle into everyday living.....
So with this in mind I'm looking for your favorite DFW recipe.....It can be anything, the more imaginative and nutirtional the better.... lets try to resist from posting the obvious beans on toast (which is as nutritional as eating cardboard).
Also tell us how much it costs and how many people it will feed....

this would be even more nutritious if you cut out the sausage casserole mix and made your own with stock, dried mixed herbs and spices such as chilli. and the spices and herbs last longer! i also had a teaspoon of mustard to my casseroles to give them a kick.***PROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBT***
Reclaimed my bank charges - got £250 back from HSBC and £88 from First Direct

Mixed bean casserole.
Onions
Value tinned Tomatoes
Dried Herbs/chilli powder/garlic
stock cube
mixture of dried pulses/lentils/split peas
Buy the bags of dried pulses/lentils etc from the supermarket at about 45p a bag and soak them, boil them for 10 minutes and pop in the slow cooker all day.
Serve with rice/pasta/potatoes/HM crusty bread.
You can feed the masses for literally a couple of pounds and freeze the leftovers for another day.0 -

And even more nutritious ( but slightly more expensive ) if you put decent sausages in it.
Value sausages are full of rubbish I`m afraid, and unless they state pork, or beef or whatever, they dont actually have to have any "proper" meat in them.1/11/06 -1/06/07 BSC #42

I must admit you would never catch me eating a value sausage - skin, connective tissue, fat, breadcrumb and food colouring. UggghBCSC Member 70:j

My point exactly.
To eat cheap, you don`t need to eat rubbish.1/11/06 -1/06/07 BSC #42

I make sausage casserole. I use low fat sausages and add mushrooms, onion and a can of chopped tomato. Then make some mash for my OH and a jacket for me

Chilli is also a great one for cheapness.
I also use own brand curry sauces and add some curry powder to give it a kick.
Also colemans Honey chicken is good. Asda has been doing 2 colemans packet sauces for £1. you cant really go wrong. With the honey chicken we stick in 4 chicken breast and serve with pasta. can get two meals each out of that
Why do you say that? OK, it doesn't make a balanced diet on its own, but I read a book on Food for Sport (by Jane Griffin) and it mentioned beans on toast several times as a useful high carbohydrate snack.
beans on toast (brown toast) have been in many of the low far diets I have read about, I think you could eat a whole lot worse!March 2006 £15,200+ in debt April £843.64 in debt - Debt Free date Sept 2009
