DH has just confirmed that the MDF board and the saw cost £25.62 after my dad got the 10% discount from B&Q. DH also bought a jacket for his dad yesterday so the total spend under the "Clothes Shopping" head is £171.24 now.
Spends under various heads as of today
Grocery: 29.88
Eating Out: £25
Clothes Shopping: £171.24
Garden Maintenance: £1.33
House Maintenance: £25.62
I also phoned Scottish Power today to switch to the fix deal until March 2015 so should cover two winters. The switch has resulted in a reduction of £2 in the monthly direct debit which I don't understand as I am sure we were on a cheaper deal before I switched and the only reason I switched was because the current fix was only until Dec 2013 :think:0 -

Regarding the ISAs, I am looking to open the Tesco one as thats the best rate I can see at the moment if you don't want to fix. I missed the boat with Santander 2.5% when I opened it for DH few months ago.
It seems the 2% ISA has been withdrawn. Now I have got two options: Either open an account today at 1.8% and then transfer when a better product remains available or wait and just open one whenever a better product is available. Considering we still need to fill in DH's Cash ISA and also S&S ISAs for both of us, I would rather wait till a better cash ISA becomes available to save on the hassle of transferring later as in any case we won't have sufficient funds available for my Cash ISA at the moment.

I am very upset as I just checked Martin's mortgage calculator and it seems that we can only borrow a maximum of £270,000 based on our current salaries. Now for a £600,000 house, we will definitely need a £360,000 mortgage if we have to buy in the next six years
I am hoping that our salaries will increase in the next six years but there are no guaranties in the current climate. There will have to be a change in the plan, me thinks!!!

Almost forgot. Received a refund from Argos for £25.99 for something we had bought earlier and DH returned a couple of days ago. This has been transferred promptly to DH's ISA along with £75 from current accounts leaving a total balance of £75 in them. I am hoping that should be fine as the payday is next Wednesday :cool:0

I just counted all the cash in DH's wallet and there is £56 unaccounted for. He doesn't remember where he has spent them
i think this will have to go under some head now though not sure which one.
On a positive note, I found an extra £10 in another of my handbags :j

I also cleaned the fridge today which felt good. My dad is still working on the understairs cupboard and I can't wait for that to finish as that will mean a proper place for DH's tools and some less used kitchen appliances and hence more available space in the kitchen
DH cried last night remembering our baby. I still cry everyday but it's so disheartening to see him crying though I am sure he does cry when alone. I wish I could bring our son back for him. Both of us are dreading the day our parents will leave as the house will feel so empty then but do understand that they have to go home one day.

We were told when we took out our current mortgage that we could borrow more than what Martins Mortgage calculator says we can so I would only take it as a rough guide.0
