I needn't have worried about DS's dog-destroyed certificate. When he came home yesterday, he just said "not bothered" and put the remains in the bin.
Thought I would just 'pop over 'onto your diary. As I am a demon skim reader I ended up having to read it all to find out about the above. In isolation it read as if DS dog had been 'destroyed' and he had put the remains of the dog in the bin.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: had me intrigued to get the whole story!
You have a great methodical approach to the debt busting and I have enjoyed reading your diary so far.Keep up the good work:DBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

So DH and I have done a big monthly shop and unless I can keep both weekly shops to just £50 each I will exceed my target for this month. So plenty of planning and eating from the freezer methinks.
But I do have a new mop. My knees may be saved yet!Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Morning diary. A bit of a rant this morning I'm afraid. I knew this would be a tight month, not impossible to achieve budget, but tight. DH knew this too, so why oh why, now he has access to his bank card again, does he think it's ok to be Mr Big and buy lunch for all his staff at work?
Of course, I didn't say anything. I hate arguments so will always avoid confrontation, but it does annoy me. Anyway, rant over.

I am just back from doing the weekly shop and I managed to keep it to £42.17 including 2p in a charity tin, so with only one more weekly shop to go till pay day, I should be able to keep within original budget.
Still a bit annoyed with DHs budgeting. He needs £150 for petrol till payday but only has £83 left in his budget, but it's ok "we can take it out of savings". Aaagh! It was easier to manage when he didn't have access to his card but hey ho.
One thing I will have to touch savings for is a vet bill. I was planning for sick dog to have her next tests in a couple of weeks but she's beginning to show symptoms again, so have brought the tests forward. I will not let her suffer but hope we don't have to say goodbye too soon. She keeps hanging in there and actually did some running on her walk yesterday.
DD is to start paying some money towards housekeeping. Its not very much and I'll be saving it for her uni costs next year but she doesn't know that.
I have some really good MSE news. I had a letter from my energy supplier yesterday saying prices are rising but I won't be affected as I was wise enough to fix my tarriff. That is thanks to this site. I didn't even change supplier, just changed tarriff with current supplier via the comparison sites and got £30 cash back. So glad its paying off. This week has been mostly horrible, one I never want to repeat in my whole life. I need to get all this off my chest, so don't read on if you want to don't want to be depressed with me for a couple of minutes.
I am going to list bad and good things and try for the good to outweigh the bad, but you'll see its impossible really.
Bad:
Friend died
DS still ill
Good:
Friend being made redundant next week has found new job
Another friend really happy she's going to be a grandmother again
Sick dog passed latest tests with flying colours
Ok, just about managed to have more in the good. DS has to wait 3 weeks for next tests so I'm seeing that as a good sign but symptons still the same. Sick dog may have to have other tests as still got symptons too.
Money wise which is what this diary is supposed to be about, had to take from savings for sick dog's tests but that's ok and need to keep within £50 on weekly shop tomorrow.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Morning diary. Well yesterday turned out to be the best day of the week. A nice surprise to start with, DH actually had a day off and he looked after me. We popped to town to get DH some shoes, and a couple of dog coats. I hadn't budgeted for that this month as hadn't expected the snow so soon, but needs must. Then we did the weekly shop which came in at £45.39 so I'm well within budget for this month's groceries.
After a bit of juggling, we have actually saved £15 this month, so all good, but do have the following to pay for next month:
Dentist bills approx £180
Vet bills approx £90
Costs of flowers and travel for funeral
And I would really like to do my Xmas shopping during Nov if possible. However, we're not even sure DH will get paid in new job this week due to glitch in systems so I'll just have to see how things go.
If I'm taught one thing this week, its that although the bills have to be paid, money is NOT the most important thing to be worrying about, life really is too short.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Woohoo! I have exceeded my target of 10 NSDs for the month and think I may get a couple more yet.Spend less now, work less later.0

Happy Halloween diary. I have had today off work and took the opportunity to work out finances for November. I have finished October having saved £30 and still have £30.50 cash in my purse. This is quite possibly because DH got his expenses through this week but still don't know if hes being paid tomorrow.
Anyway, a good month financially, 12 NSDs and well within grocery budget. I was hoping today would be another NSD but I have to pick something up from the post office that someone didn't put enough postage on.
For November, will hope at least to equal 12 NSDs and have a grocery budget of £450 so should be able to keep to it again. I have a £10 coop voucher and a £20 Mr T voucher so these will help.
Everything I need to pay out for this month is covered with £50 left over, so this should be enough for donation to flowers and travel for funeral.
Fingers crossed that DHs pay goes in the bank tomorrow, or I will be juggling again!Spend less now, work less later.0
